ABSTRACT
The present study was carried out in three phases. At first we assessed the side-effects of three concentrations of the insecticide tebufenozide, on the percentage of viable eggs, adult longevity and total number of eggs of S. frugiperda. In all concentrations used, tebufenozide did not affect adult longevity of S. frugiperda in any of the concentrations used, however it had significant effect on the total number of eggs and the percentage of viable eggs when compared with the control. In the second phase, we assessed the influence of these three concentrations, when the parasitoid was reared in eggs from these adults. The parasitism, viability and sex ratio were not affected by the insecticide. In the third and last phase, we evaluated if the insecticide could affect the offspring of T. pretiosum, when sprayed on the eggs of Anagasta kuehniella. However, no significant effect was observed. These results suggest that this insecticide may be a useful tool in integrated pest management programs.
