Phytoextraction it's a promissing phytorremediation technique for heavy metal extraction from contaminated soils.As a recent technology, researches concerning the extraction of heavy metals by castor bean plant are stillpreliminary and incomplete. Two pot experiments were conducted in a greenhouse to evaluate the extractingcapacity of cupper and zinc by castor bean. The experiments were carried out in design completely randomizedwith three replications and five copper (0; 25; 50; 75; 100 mg kg-1) and five zinc (0; 50; 100; 150; 200 mg kg-1)treatments. At 30; 60; 75 and 105 DAS, was harvested the 4th. leaf of each plant. At the end of the experiment theplants were harvested and assessed the levels of copper and zinc in plant tissues. The copper and zincconcentrations in the plants were ranked in the following order: root > leaf > stem. Zinc translocation was higherthan copper in the castor bean plants. The castor bean plants studied could not be considered as heavy metalhiperaccumulator, however, they can be considered as zinc accumulator.
