An equalizer is required at the receiver end in the wireless transmission environment. The equalizers have been categorized into two groups linear and non-linear, based on their implementation and performance. Linear equalizers are conceptually and computationally simple, while non-linear equalizers are complex and computationally intensive. The simplicity of linear equalizers comes at the cost of performance. On the other hand, non-linear equalizers have higher implementation complexity, but they offer superior performance. Decision feedback equalizer provides a good tradeoff between performance and complexity. In a time varying channel, an equalizer that adapts to the changes in the channel is required to recover the transmitted symbols.  So an adaptive decision feedback equalizer is studied.
