ABSTRACT
We proposes a new cross-layer design method for minimizing the total consumed power in power-controlled wireless ad hoc networks. In contrast to previous research, we consider not only a power-aware routing algorithm, but also the MAC layer and Network layer algorithms that are adequate to optimize its performance. Computer simulations show that the proposed scheme outperforms the conventional schemes with respect to the average total consumed power, while maintaining a similar average success rate. We compared the performances of PC-AODV, AODV and Cluster Power (CP). This work improves throughput, Packet Delivery Ratio and other performance of Ad hoc Networks. The proposed algorithm builds different routing entries according to the node power levels on demand, and selects the minimum power level routing for data delivery. This PC-AODV uses different power control policies to transmit data packets, as well as control packets of network layer and MAC layer.
