Patients with cardiac disease presenting for noncardiac surgery are at increased risk of intraoperative complications such as myocardial infarction (MI); cardiac arrhythmias; pulmonary insufficiency, and death. It is well established that the number of patients with cardiac disease presenting for anaesthesia and surgery are on the increase.
