ABSTRACT
Urban transportation is a service of great importance in people's lives. The Management of public transport system has become a complicated operation rather by problems with security, with fraud, with occurrence of queues, for example. The access control and the process of collecting tickets are the key points. Biometrics is an alternative to control access and payment. This paper applied the software of discrete simulation to analyze the time of traditional payments and compare the times obtained with the use of a biometric device. The study was conducted in the city of Sao Jose dos Campos, SP. It was observed that the use of biometrics, as the simulations presented in this work, creates queues of passengers at the entrance of the bus. These passenger queues increase the dwell time of vehicles, reducing the capacity of the infrastructure which causes a bigger problem, the buses queues.
