ABSTRACT
This paper mainly deals with various Chromiumcoating defects that occur while electro plating of differentmechanical components and methodology adopted to prevent it. Italso covers suggestions to minimize this problem. This papercontains new suggestions to minimize the problems by usingrecent technological developments. Since the chemicals used forchromium coating are posing threat to environment it is need ofthe hour to minimise the use such chemical consumption. Thereduction in defective components will increase productivity aswell as protect the environment to some extent It also describes thevarious alternate coating methods for chromium coating throughwhich we can achieve the required surface properties. India beinga Developing country .for various coating application chromiumis used. Since the process is slow and involves lengthy cycle timeunless the defects are minimized the products cannot be deliveredin time which will create loss to the Industries. Being the cheaper& simple technological process it is being used for coatingapplications. Disposal of effluents generated by this chromiumcoating process has to be taken care of by the Industries which areusing the process. By using the chromium along with othermaterials, defects can be minimized as well as better surfaceproperties can be obtained. This paper describes the techniquesand gives details of chromium coating applications in variousIndustries.
