ABSTRACT
Ranitidine is a selective histamine-2 receptor antagonist commonly used in peptic ulcer and gastroesophageal reflux disease. It acts by reducing acid secretion in stomach. Nevertheless, selective histamine-2 receptor antagonists are utilized in the treatment of chronic urticaria, anaphylaxis and angioedema combined with histamin-1 receptor antagonists. Some adverse effects such as headache, fatigue, dizziness, constipation, diarrhea, bradycardia, rash, gynecomasty and anaphylaxis are likely to be seen in the use of histamine-2 receptor antagonists. Anaphylaxis case related to ranitidine use was presented in company with literature in this study.
