ABSTRACT
Introduction: The neonatal pain deserves special attention as well as being fundamental to his approach, a proper assessment because these patients did not express verbalmente.Objetive: To evaluate the presence or absence of pain during aspiration endotraqueal.Methodology: The sample included PN 60 who underwent mechanical ventilation and tracheal aspiration between November 2009 and February 2010.As physiological variables were HR and saturation of the respiratory and behavioral variables were assessed using the pain scale-NIPS. Results: There were 22 male and 38 female newborns with mean gestational age of 31.82 ± 0.63 semanas.Os values of physiological parameters showed statistically significant differences for both HR and RR and to saturation, the three times studied. However only the CF presents as clinically significant using the appropriate statistical test t Student. Conclusion: The aspiration procedure has proved painful, but did not compromise the clinical stability of the PN and yet there was his need to maintain homeostasis in these patients.
