ABSTRACT
In nineteen century, french culture was the model followed by Brazil in fashion, politics, education and, mainly, in literature. Brazilian people read, translated texts by french writers and devoted themselves to learn and write in french language. French writers performed a huge influence in brazilian authors, who proceed to translate, imitate and paraphrase french texts. Taking as a basis this premise, in this article, we will study, comparatively, the presence of death theme and body’s putrefaction in two poems by Raimundo Correia: “Beijo póstumo”, “Jó” and “Uma carniça”, by the French poet Charles Baudelaire.
