The present study examined the bioaccumulation of some heavy metals (Lead, chromium and cadmium) in some freshwater fishes (Tilapia zilli, Labeo coubie and Synodontis membranaceous) and their haematological indices in river Manyara in Niger State, Nigeria. The accumulation of the metals examined in these fishes was significantly different (P < 0.05) in the three locations examined along the river and also vary with the species. The order of accumulation of the metals in the fishes are; Cr > Pb> Ca and were above the maximum permissible limit for human consumption except cadmium.
