Cavidades secretoras en la raíz de Espeletiinae (Asteraceae)

The nature of the secretory spaces associated to endodermis in primary root structure in representatives of the subtribe Espeletiinae (Coespeletia lutescens, C. moritziana, Espeletia schultzii, Espeletiopsis pannosa, Libanothamnus humbertii, L. nerifolius, and Ruilopezia marcescens) is studied. The root of the studied species present an uniform structure in the root cortex; it is determined that the secretory structures associated to the endodermis are short cavities which don't unite lengthwise to form longer chanels, but they can unite radially. The exogenous origin of the felogen is pointed out, reason for which the primary cortex has a long duration.
