ABSTRACT
Lignin’s from plants pose huge threat to the environment while they are treated by chemical methods in paper and pulping industry, leading to the search forthe alternative methods for lignin removal. Bio-delignification is one of the best available methods for safe lignin removal. It consists of removal of lignin bythe treatment of various microorganisms especially fungi and bacteria. Various lignolytic enzymes like laccase, lignin peroxidase, Manganese peroxidase playsvital role in the lignin removal. The comparative delignification of Eucalyptus sp. by various wood inhabiting fungi was studied by shake flask method and theeffect of various chemical and physical parameters viz., carbon source, nitrogen source, temperature and RPM, on the delignification was also studied.Phanerochaete chrysosporium was found to be the best delignifying fungi and 25°C temperature 150 rpm along with the addition of Glucose (1%) and Peptone(0.5%) resulted in profound delignification.
