COMPARATIVE STUDY OF EDUCATIONAL SUPPORTS, CAREER DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN THE SCHOOLS OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SPORTS AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES AFTER GRADUATION ACCORDING TO THE OPINIONS OF STUDENTS AND FACULTY MEMBERS

ABSTRACT
330 faculty members and 870 students participated in this study carried out for the purpose of investigating educational supports, career development opportunities and job opportunities after the education is completed. A scale consisting of 11 factors was used. The participants were asked to self-report the ‘current state’ and ‘importance level’ of “educational supports, career development opportunities and job opportunities following the completion of education”. Arithmetic means and standard deviations of the data obtained were calculated, and in order to find the difference between the groups, Independent t-test was used.According to the analysis conducted on the factors aiming to solicit participants’ perception of the current state, meaningful difference at the level of p≤0,001 was found with regards to the factors of “existence of out of class sports activities, existence of cultural activities, existence of activities such as conferences and seminars, facilitations provided by the school for students to find a job, easiness of finding a job for graduate students in public institutions, and easiness of finding a job for graduate students in private sector”, and meaningful difference at the level of p≤0,05 was found with regards to factors of “adequacy of the school library, introduction of the students into business world”. According to the analyses carried out with regards to importance level, meaningful difference at the level of p≤0,001 was found for the factors of “existence of the scientific activities such as conferences and seminars, facilitators provided by to school for students to find a job, easiness of finding a job for graduate students in public institutions, and easiness of finding a job for graduate students in private sector” and meaningful difference at the level of p≤0,01 was found fort he factor of “introduction of students into business world”.As a result of the findings, provision of educational supports and career development opportunities was found to be one of the required services to be offered at schools of physical education and sports for students and faculty members to improve their qualifications, and the issue of being employed after graduation was found to be challenging problem to be dealt with.
