ABSTRACT
The aim of the present study is to investigate the possible effects of different anaesthetics on selected biochemical parameters in rabbits. Twenty rabbits divided to five treatment groups; control (1 ml IV saline), Ketamine (10 mg/kg IV) with xylazine (3 mg/kg IV) or diazepam (2 mg/kg IV), Propofol (8 mg/kg IV) and pentobarbitone (30 mg/kg IV). Blood samples were obtained at: before injection, and at 15, 30, 60, 120 min and 24 hour post injection. Plasma ALT, AST, ALP, GGT, BUN, creatinine and potassium concentrations were measured. There was an increase (P
