In the present research work, chemical composition and antibacterial activity of essential oil of Eugenia uniflora L. leaves are investigated. The essential oil from the Eugenia uniflora L. leaves was subjected to GC and GC/MS analysis. Thirty seven compounds were identified of which the sesquiterpenes dominated. The oil was analyzed for its anti-bacterial properties by using disc diffusion method. The oil was found to be active against gram positive bacteria.
