Treatments were disposed in of randomized blocks design with four replications | and consisted of combination between five plant spacing (10 x 10 | 10 x 15 | 10 x 20 | 10 x 25 and 10 x 30 cm) and two soil covers (with or without sawdust). Plants in excess were eliminated ten days after emergence | remaining two per hull. In ten same days | sawdust was applied as soil cover. There were two weed samplings | at ten and twenty day after sawdust application. Plant spacing did not influence any characteristic evaluated | however soil cover influenced cilantro dry mass. The interaction between plant spacing and soil cover provided of increase in the number of leaves of cilantro. Sawdust cover caused in increase in cilantro dry mass and decreased the dry mass weeds plants.
