ABSTRACT
The real specification of the curriculum is the textbook we use at school. Its contents reflect social, cultural and economic events. Therefore, our aim is to analyse how the Basque Country is presented. We consider that the analysis of the content is the technique of inferring systematically and objectively, through an identification process. It is essential if we wish to undertake the analysis of the ideology, as the basis of the textbook has for many years been -and to a great extent it continues to be- the content. As a matter of fact, the content is not neutral, and complex methodologies such as content analysis to verify the appearance of hidden values in the author´s speech are very useful techniques or statistical methods. Therefore, in our research procedure we have made use of the textbook´s text -iconic or written- to reach content.
