The discontinuity as a product of the urban is now the subject of strong criticism from specialists in various fields, particularly architects, urban planners and sociologists. The main purpose of their analysis focuses on the negative consequences generated on the operation of the city in general and particularly on social functioning. The city of Annaba, including the area of west Plain, is no exception to the rule; it is based on a discontinuous urban fabric marked by the separation between buildings and roads on one side, and wide spacing between buildings on the other. This contributes to the abolition of public spaces linked to the street, which is found replaced by empty spaces without quality, without any necessary adjustments to community life. The present work deals with a type area where this problem arises and tries to analyze and identify the determinants of these types of production space.
