ABSTRACT
Parallelgesellschaften, Risikoschüler, Integrationsschwierigkeiten, … – Problemkomplexe dieser Art beherrschen die mediale Szene, wenn von Migration die Rede ist. Und nicht selten wird uns als weibliche Migrantin par excellence das Bild der Kopftuchträgerin vorgeführt, die zur figurativen Projektionsfläche unserer Aushandlungspraxis über Werte einer sich als demokratisch und liberal verstehenden Gesellschaft geworden ist. Doch gibt es überhaupt so etwas wie die Migrantin/den Migranten? Und ist Migration tatsächlich ein so aktuelles Phänomen, wie es uns der mediale, aber auch wissenschaftliche Diskurs glauben lässt? Der zu besprechende Tagungsband, der die Vielfältigkeit und die lange Geschichte weiblicher Migrationsprozesse aufzeigt, kann auf jeden Fall dazu beitragen, den Ausnahmediskurs über Migration zu relativieren.Parallel societies, risk students, integration difficulties, … - sets of problems such as these dominate the media scene whenever there is talk of migration. Quite often, we are confronted with the image of a headscarf-wearing woman as the female migrant par excellence, who has become the figurative projection surface of our negotiation practice about values of a society that considers itself democratic and liberal. But does something like the migrant even exist? And is migration even such a topical phenomenon as the media, but also the scientific discourse, make us believe? The reviewed conference proceedings, which illustrate the diversity and the long history of female migration processes, can definitely contribute to qualifying the exceptional discourse about migration.
