ABSTRACT
The possibilty of intercultural understanding is based on the fact that all human beings have the capacity of rational (argumentative) dialogue. The aim of education is precisely to enable the human being to overcome and free himself from (religious and other) inhibitions of critical thinking and thus to foster the chances of humankind to resolve its problems in a peaceful way, i.e. by using what we all have in common: the capacity for rational dialogue.
