EFFECT OF PARTİCİPATİON IN SPORTS ON MORAL DEVELOPMENT OF CHILD IN SECONDARY SCHOOL

ABSTRACT
II nd level primary school students in the city of canakkale form the basics of the study about the effect of “ Physical Education and Sports Classes” on moral improvement at secondary schools. Random selection method was used in the study. 11 primary school were chosen with the random selection method. With this method, 200 II nd level primary school students in the 2005-2006 education year were included in the research. The sample group was formed with total of 200 student; 65 male and 65 female students who are engeged in sports and 70 students who do not.At the beginning of the study Defining Issues Test-DIF of Rest (1979) was given to the students to designate their moral opinion level.Techniques of arithmetic averace, Standard deviation, indepentdent t test, variance analysis (f test) were used to analyze the data of the study. Statistically 0.05 level of meaningfulness was given to the findings. As a result; level of moral opinion of the students engaging in sports are higher than the ones who are not. The brach of the sports does not effect the moral opinion improvement, level of the moral opinion of female students who are engaged in sports are higher than the male students, there is no difference on the moral opinion level of male and female students who are not engaged in sports, the moral opinion level of students who are engaged in sports are higher than the ones who are not and sports have a positive effect on the improvement of the moral opinion level.
