ABSTRACT
To study the anti-obesity effect of saponin rich extract of Achyranthes aspera on male wistar rats after feeding them for eight weeks with high fatdiet. Methods: The rats were divided into four groups: control group fed on normal standard diet (N); high fat diet control group (HF); saponin rich ethanolextract treated group fed on high fat diet (HF+ASE) and Orlistat treated group fed on high fat diet (HF+OL). The effect of extract on following parameterswas recorded – food and water consumption, body weights, organ weights, serum biochemical profile and atherogenic index.
