ABSTRACT
In the Autumn of 1937, the Galician-Spanish writer Álvaro de las Casas, who had just arrived in Brazil as an exiled, published in Rio de Janeiro the essay Espanha (gênese de uma revolução). The book was a presentation to the Brazilian readers who wanted to have an explanation about the beginning of the Spanish Civil War, of a detailed reconstruction related to the problems that had generated the fratricide fight between Spaniards. With that purpose, the author mentioned as the first reason of the chaos, the decomposition of the Spanish society caused by the French invasion in 1808. Thus, the foremost purpose here is to enlighten a text that, with success, prognosticated, in Brazil, that the conflict between the two Spains would only finish when one of the two parts could be able to exterminate the other, without any kind of mercy.
