ABSTRACT
Extraction of total carotenoid (TC) from the pericarp of tamarillo (Cyphomandra betacea Sendt) was valuated. The extraction was performed in the darkness. The solvents used were: n-hexane, ether petroleum and their mixtures in the following ratios: 75:25, 50:50 and 25:75 (v/v). The absorbance was measured at 440 nm.
