Through myth, history and memory we strive to represent to ourselveshumanity’s traumatic sufferings. Myth, history and memory, personal and societal, arethe storehouses for accounts of traumatic injury and its aftermath, and our efforts atredress and retribution through or outside of culturally determined juridico-politicalsystems. Thus stories are made that perpetuate and comply with established culturalnorms, and our experiences of injury, retribution and forgiveness are contained withinestablished frameworks, both secular and religious
