The paper presents results of experimental research of kerosene injection into high speed airflow of a model of a detonation chamber. Kerosene was injected into the rectangular section of the model’s chamber, which had a width of 20mm. A plain orifice kerosene injector of different diameters was used. The injector was set perpendicular to the airflow. The air was injected through a slot of a certain size that created the critical flow.Measurements of the air velocity distribution and numerical calculations for the chamber were performed in order to obtain data on the air speed inside the chamber. Measurements of the diameter of droplets injected into the model chamber were also taken. High-speed photography with a back light were utilized in the droplet diameter measurements. This provided information about the size of droplets and their spatial distribution, which are key elements in the designing of the detonation chamber.
