ABSTRACT
This research examined the applicability of new recreational Orientierungslauf (OL) programmes for urban cultural learning. The results were firstly that these programmes help participants discover new potential. Second, thorough preparation is required to facilitate such programmes and encourage students to engage in the activities voluntarily and actively. This induces self-motivated learning, which instils confidence and a sense of accomplishment, thus providing adolescents with the opportunity to experience culture. Finally, these programmes were found to foster creative and flexible thinking in participants. The varying approaches used in the programmes increase their potential to form positive interrelationships.
