ABSTRACT
This work aims to propose a discussion of methodological possibilities of the use of opera production as a source of History. Thus, it begins by taking stock of the new historiographical approaches that persist without social questions. Based on the proposal of a Social History of Music, we think the modalities of the existing knowledge of the intersection between History and Music: a History of Music – clearly traditional – and Historical Musicology – dedicated to music. Thus, as the main question of this work, we propose methodological notes for a Social History of Music regarding opera production since we live in a historiographic interdict in this genre.
