ABSTRACT
Studies were carried out on enhancement of solubility and dissolution rate of Etoricoxib, a poorly soluble drug by solid dispersion technology. In the solventevaporation and physical mixtures techniques, the polymers Croscarmellosesodium, Crospovidone, ßcd were evaluated as carriers in solid dispersions forenhancing the solubility and dissolution rate of Etoricoxib. Solid dispersions of Etoricoxib with polymers were prepared at different ratios of drug and carrierand the dispersions were evaluated for drug content uniformity, dissolution rate and efficiency in comparison to Etoricoxib as such. The feasibility offormulating the solid dispersions into compressed tablets was also investigated. The solid dispersions of Etoricoxib with polymers could be prepared by solventevaporation method employing methanol as solvent for Etoricoxib. Solid dispersions in the polymer fraction gave rapid and higher dissolution of Etoricoxib. The increasing order of dissolution profiles given by polymers is CCS>CP>ßcd. Among the polymer ratios the increasing order of dissolution is given as 1:3
