ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research work was to prepare fast dissolving tablets of Candesartan cilexetil by direct compression method using superdisintegrants. The prepared formulations were evaluated for pre-compressional parameters such as angle of repose, bulk density, tapped density, Hausner’s ratio and % compressibility. The tablets were evaluated for post compressional parameters such as hardness, friability, thickness, in vitro dispersion time, wetting time, and water absorption ratio. Effect of superdisintegrants [such as croscarmellose and crospovidone] on wetting time, in vitro dispersion time and stability parameter has been studied. The prepared tablets were characterized by FTIR studies. No chemical interactionbetween drug and excipients was confirmed by FTIR studies. Among all the formulations CCP4 and CSG4 showed 50% drug release within 0.46 min, 0.51 min and 90% of drug released within 2.59 min, 3.59 min.
