ABSTRACT
The morphological and anatomical features of leaves and stems of Cladocolea micrantha (Eichler) Kuijt, Amazonian mistletoe popularly used for the treatment of inflammation and tumors, are described. Histological sections show the presence of sclerenchymatous cells in the mesophyll and in the stem, features which differentiate the species from the closely related Struthanthus vulgaris Mart. This characteristic is a useful botanical marker for quality control in phytotherapy applications.
