ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to investigate identification levels of sport spectators from different universities with their teams. A total of 600 students (198 female (Mage = 22.36±1.18) and 402 male (Mage = 23.32±1.18) from four different universities’ School of Physical Education and Sports and departments of Sport Sciences voluntarily participated in this study. Data were collected by Sport Spectator Identification Scale-SSIC (Wann & Branscombe, 1993). One Way ANOVA and “t” tests were used for statistical analysis. The findings showed that, there was no significant difference in identification levels of sport spectators from different universities with their teams (p > 0.05). However, there were significant differences in identification levels between male and female students (p < 0.05). Also significant difference was also found between students who are member of spectator groups and non-member students’ identification levels with their teams (p < 0.05). As a result, identification levels of sport spectators from different universities departments of Sport Sciences and Schools of Physical Education and Sports students with their teams are similar. However male and female students’ identification levels are different. Furthermore spectator group members’ identification levels are higher than non-members students’.
