ABSTRACT
This article analyzes the illegal migration of Romanians in 1989. Depression and human rights violation favor working class dissatisfaction about communist regime. The Romanians tries to leave the country against any danger, with the goal to establish in Western Europe or North America. Based on the data collected from The National Council for the Securitate Archives (N=1.962), our research establish the socio-demographic profile of Romanian migrant in 1989. Statistical analyses suggested that the workers represent majority of migrants and they leave Romania from economic reasons, not for political ones.
