ABSTRACT
The haustorial implantation, structural characteristics of the xylem vessels: length and diameter, and the foliar leaf analised in a hemiparasite species of a coffee agroecosystem: Coffea arabica L. and Inga edulis H.B.K. The heniparasite exhibits plasticity in the type of implantation and the dimensions of the conductive elements of the xylem, adapting itself to the characteristics of the host species. The attack of P. pyrifolia is more pronounced in the coffee plants, involving the entire diameter of the stem, and producing a more detrimental effect than in Inga, which is expressed as lower water potentials
