ABSTRACT
In today’s world most organizations are moving from wireconnectedLAN’s to wireless LAN’s. WLANs are changingthe landscape of computer networking. Wirelesscommunications are inherently more open to attack thanwired data transfer, as its physical layer is not contained inthe wire. Wireless LANs require strict user authentication, data privacy and data integrity to prevent unauthorizedaccess to network resources and protect data frommodification or destruction. Many standard setting bodiesare working on the problem of wireless security. Recentlynew protocols have been proposed by the InternetEngineering Task Force (IETF) for protecting clientauthentication by running the protocols in a secure tunnelwherein all data required for authenticating the user is wellencrypted. The purpose of this thesis is to implement onesuch proposed security protocol - PEAP (ProtectedExtensible Authentication Protocol) on MicrosoftWindows.
