Objective: T o evaluate the free radical Scavenging activity of ethanolic and aqueous extract of Achyranthes aspera Linn variety- rubrofuscaMaterials and Methods : Preliminary Phytochemical analysis, estimation of total phenolic content and total tannin content was car-ried out as apart of Phytochemical evaluation of Achyranthes aspera variety- rubrofusca . Free radical scavenging activity was studied using DPPH method. Results: Preliminary Phytochemical screening showed the presence of phenols, tannins and sterols in both aqueous and ethanol ex-tract. Total phenol and tannin content was found to be 16.55w/w & 5.98% w/w in case of ethanolic extract and 12.5 % w/w &3.98 % w/w with respect to aqueous extract. Conclusion; The results indicates that ethanolic extract of Achyranthes aspera variety- rubrofusca exhibited free radical scavenging activity.
