Inosine pranobex (IP) is well-known and willingly used medication for more than 4 decades. In this manuscript authors have reviewed the usage, efficacy and toleranceof IP treatment among dermatological patients. It has been shown that studied drug exert antiviral activities in vivo which are secondary to the immunomodulatingeffect. The findings of the analyzed clinical trials have confirmed beneficial clinical effects in several skin conditions, including those caused by infectious (includingherpes, zoster and genital warts) and non-infectious factors (alopecia areata). IP treatment has been well tolerated and devoid of any serious adverse events. Authorssuggest, IP should serve mainly as adjunctive therapy, moreover it may be used off-label for additional management of condyloma acuminatum.
