ABSTRACT
Objective: The purpose of this article is to analyze the relationship between the body mass indices and hematological and biochemical parameters of reproductive women at the age of 18 to 49 years old.Method: This cross-sectional and descriptive study includes 124 consecutive reproductive women patients at the age between 18 and 49 and the mean age is 33.6±7.3, admitted to Düzce University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine Obesity and Check-up Outpatient Clinics between June 2010 and December 2010. Patients were classified according to the obesity definition of WHO as normal weight as control group, obese and metabolic syndrome and hematological and biochemical parameters were compared.Results: There was no significant differences in the levels of serum iron, TIBC,%TSI, MCV, MPV, PLT and Htc between metabolic syndrome group and the other groups (p>0.05) however serum ferritin levels found significantly elevated in obese and metabolic syndrome groups in comparison with the control group(p=0.04). Serum levels of TSH, Hs-CRP, uric acid, Alb/Cre (spot urine), HOMA-IR were significantly elevated in metabolic syndrome group in comparison with the obese and control groups (p=0.01, p
