ABSTRACT
The purpose of this paper is to develop a kinetic model for the production of glucose from wheat straw material using Aspergillus niger. The enzymatic hydrolysis of wheat- straw was investigated at the optimum conditions of hydrolysis. Kinetic parameters such as maximum rate of reaction, rmax, and Michealis Menten’s constant km, were determined to be 1.723*10-4 g.L-1.s-1 and 36.83 g.L-1 respectively. The model was developed and its reliability was tested with the experimental data and a mean standard deviation of 0.2 was obtained. This shows that the model is reliable and can be used in the design and analysis of a bioreactor for glucose syrup production from wheat- straw.
