ABSTRACT
The authors present the literature-based comparison between the properties of posterior teeth restored with prefabricated glass fibre-reinforced composite posts and endocrowns concerning their strength, marginal adaptation, tooth preparation and longevity. The reported studies indicate that the fracture resistance and longevity of both restorations is similar. Endocrowns show a lower marginal adaptation but allow for less extensive preparation of tissues. Therefore, if the tooth can be restored by adhesively bonded endocrown this should be considered before using prefabricated glass fiber-reinforced composite post and full crown.
