ABSTRACT
Hazy though its contours might be, Greece's economic crisis didn't creep up from behind, writes Victor Tsilonis. The scandals littering Greek politics in recent decades indicate a chronic lack of accountability, culminating in the anti-constitutional approval of the EU/IMF loans. Following the article’s original version in English for Eurozine and its second, lengthier version in German for the Berliner Gazette a little later, this third updated version connects the recent economic reality of Greece with the global agenda and shows why the steps of the transitional Greek government under the international banker Loukas Papadimos inescapably put Greece deeper into the mist.
