New evidence for the Environmental Kuznets Curve for sulphur dioxide emissions: a case study of the Czech Republic

ABSTRACT
In this paper we test the model explaining the interdependencebetween the pollutants and the economicdevelopment in the Czech Republic. We calculate therelationship known as the Environmental Kuznets Curve(EKC) by estimating the relationship between theenvironmental pollution expressed by CO2 and SO2emissions per capita and the GDP per capita for the CzechRepublic for the period from 1990 to 2009. Our findingsreveal that the Environmental Kuznets Curve hypothesis forthe Czech Republic holds in the case of estimating theinterdependencebetween GDP per capita and sulphurdioxide.
