ABSTRACT
Approaches between linguistics and education have been pursued in recent decades, particularly in the area of science education. In that sense, this article aims to locate the conception of language underlying the work of Paulo Freire. For this, the analysis focuses around a few central concepts of Mikhail Bakhtin's philosophy of language and the theory of Discourse Analysis of the French school, such as "dialogicity" and "dialogue", "unfinished," "silence" and "reading." It also discussed the vision of communication that Freire presents in some of his books from the drawing criticism of the theorists' discourse about the communicative process. Thus, the search is to trace the similarities and departures between the pedagogy of Freire and the main ideas of Bakhtin and French Discourse Analysis, seeing possible contributions to science education.
