ABSTRACT
Divan poets, for some different reasons, usednames of various individuals from many nations in theirlines in a way to create religious, historical, literral,cultural and mythological associations. Among theseindividuals, Arabs and Persians mainly takingprecedence. When it is mentioned, particularly, aboutPersian oriented individuals, Sehname heroes andPersian poets are the among the initial ones. When mentioning about Persian poets, our poets comparedthemselves and their poems with Persian poets andpoems. In this manner they seek the way of praising theirpoetry and poems. In time, this approach turned into akind of symbolic, figurative use of Persian poets in divanpoetry. Within this frame, by demonstrating whichcharacteristics of Persian poets mentioned most in divanpoetry, and which points were taken when approachingto them, the portrait of Persian poet from the perspectiveof divan poet will reveal itself in a more comprehensibleway.
