ABSTRACT
Data from 434 litters farrowed between January 1998 and August 2003 was used to evaluate the piglet performance of Mukota and Large White × Mukota piglets up to weaning at 35 days (± 4 days). The traits studied were litter size at 21 days of age, total weight of piglets at 21 days of age, body weight gain to 21 days, number of piglets weaned, weight at weaning, body weight gain to weaning, body weight gain from 21 to 35 days and preweaning mortality. The month of farrowing and breed of sire did not affect litter size at day 21. The overall body weight gain from birth to weaning was not influenced by the sex of the piglet.
