At present, the world has been working on substituting fossil fuels by alternative fuels, among other reasons, due to the depletion of non-renewable natural resources and the emissions that they produce, generating large environmental implications. This article is part of the research advancement between 2009 and 2012 related to the “Production and characterization of biodiésel from chickenfat”. Tests for viscosity, density, distillation curve calculation of ketene index,were performed in order to determine the feasibility for the use of biodiésel as afuel in internal combustion ignition by compression engines MCI-EC. The studyshowed that the biodiésel obtained meets existing technical standards for liquidbiofuels at the international level and could, therefore, be successfully used ininternal combustion engines.
