ABSTRACT
A study was conducted to assess the effect of toposequence on Copper (Cu) and Manganese (Mn) content and distribution in some soil of Jangargari, Yamaltu-Debe L.G.A, Gombe State. Soil sample were collected from each identified horizon of the three (3) profile pits dug at the upper slope, middle slope and lower slope position. Results obtained showed that all soil samples had adequate amount of Cu and Mn. The change in topo position had a strong influence on Cu and Mn distribution and was in the following decreasing order: upper slope > middle slope > lower slope. The DTPA Cu decreased with increasing soil depth but DPTA Mn did not follow a definite trend. These results suggest that the profile distribution of Cu and Mn is largely controlled by plant biological cycling, soil pH and slope differences.
