The fruit quality is a complex of features and specific characteristics, which besides other criteria, stands for the selection and promotion of cultivars according to the market demand. On the other hand in the breeding work, this characteristic is mandatory in selecting the new genotypes, having in view the fruit destination. This paper shows the evaluation of cultivars recommended to be propagated, namely apple, pear, plum, sweet, sour cherry species in terms of fruit quality: market appearance, flesh, taste and nutritive characteristics as well as the present demands on the European market. It is also comparatively studied their adaptability, the behaviour of the autochthonous, foreign cultivars as well as of some promising selections.
