ABSTRACT
A lot of scientific societies established recommendations concerning diagnostic and therapeutic approach in pancreatic tumors. Theiraim isto make easier decisions about surgical treatment and to improve therapy results in pancreatic cancer. The study presents recommendations of diagnostic approach in pancreatic tumor based on review of literature from the last years, as presented and accepted at the Meeting of Pancreas Group of Polish Gastroenterology Society in Popowo near Warsaw from 17 to 19 June 2005. The recommendations show diagnostic directions and indications for treatment of solid and cystic tumors. Algorithm of diagnostic approach using diagnostic imaging methods (ultrasonography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance tomography, endoscopic ultrasonography), fine-needle aspiration biopsy, cytologie study of aspirates and determination of neoplastic markers in cysteontentare the recommended procedures.
